Daisy Cakes sells fabulous cupcakes, of course. When we visited we tried the chocolate and red velvet with cream cheese frosting and found them both delicious. We've also heard mouth-watering things about their vanilla cupcake and rumors of a fabulous bacon variety. We will definitely be back to sample more. In addition to the cupcakes they had other sweet treats and cookies, coffee and hot chocolate, and lunch and brunch options options such as quiches, omelets, and sandwiches. I sampled the hot chocolate after the boys finished their cupcakes, and this was not just any ordinary hot chocolate. If anyone has had churros in Spain. They dip them in the most decadent rich chocolate sauce. That is what this hot chocolate reminded me of-thick, rich, and wonderful!
What we liked: The cupcakes and hot chocolate were delicious, and we can't wait to head back to check out more delicious treats. Plus, their location right next to the Farmer's Market and Durham Central Park make them a great combination with a stop at the market.
What we would change: As with some of the other little bakeries they have checked out, they don't have much seating inside and some of it is usually taken up with patrons using computers and working. Therefore, I have to make sure my boys are on their best behavior when their inside the restaurant and feel like we're being a bit too noisy sometimes. However, they do have a few tables outside, so in good weather you could sit outside or even head over to Durham Central Park to enjoy your treat.
