What it is: So, we headed on over to Woodcroft Shopping Center in S. Durham the other afternoon to check out Menchie's which opened two weeks ago. We walked in and were impressed already. Their space is open, colorful and inviting. They had a wide selection of yogurt flavors and a ton of toppings cased in sleek containers. As with other froyo places that have opened recently, we picked our flavors out of their self serve containers, spooned on our toppings, had our bowls weighed, and paid by the ounce.
It was interesting to see my son's different tastes in yogurt flavors and toppings. One son had chocolate silk yogurt with his traditional mini M&M's and chocolate rocks (which actually looked like rocks). My other son tried their strawberry frozen yogurt with jelly beans and gummy bears. I sampled tart flavor with Captain Crunch, fudge sauce, and sno cap candies, yum! They seemed to have a few more unique topping options than some other places we visited recently.
What we liked: To eat our yogurt, we got to sit in a semi private room with a big booth along one wall. I imagine you could close that off as a private room for a larger group. In addition, the yogurt and toppings were very tasty. We loved the decor and it was fun for the kiddos. They also had some nice outdoor seating that had some shade and looked like a great place to enjoy a sweet treat outside.
What we would change: I did not care for the glazed donut flavor, but that might have just been personal preference. The great part is you can sample each of the flavors before you try them so you make sure to get something that you like.
