Chapel Hill Community Center and Park

What we like:  This park and community center has something to offer for everyone.  The playground has play structures for toddlers and older kids with a soft surface underneath.  The most unique thing about the playground is the giant tire swing.  Trails that go around the park are great for riding bikes or walking.  Picnic tables in a shaded area make a nice spot for snacks and/or lunch.  There is a beautiful rose garden with brick walking paths and a gazebo located next to the park.  There are also basketball and volleyball courts located outside and nice facilities inside typical of a recreation center (e.g. basketball court, climbing wall and swimming pool).

The community center offers programs year round such as parent-tot and preschool swimming lessons.  During the winter months (Sept.-May), families can take advantage of their Parent-Tot time in the gym on Mondays through Fridays from 10am-12pm for a small fee (I believe it's $3 for residents and $4 for non-residents.)  For more information on these programs:

What we would change: There really isn't much I would change about this place.  It can get crowded at times but there are plenty of trails and green space to explore.  I know the Parent-Tot time used to be free.  So I guess it would be nice if it was still free.
