What it is: Borders is a huge bookstore just south of I-40 on 15-501. We had never checked out the kids' area, and it was great. They had a huge varied selection of children's books. They also had toys, puzzles, games, stuffed animals, sticker books, and lots of other goodies that kids will enjoy looking at. My son was stuck at the basket of stuffed animals just as you enter the kids area for a good portion of our visit. However, when he did migrate in, we found countless books and goodies to look at as well as a bead table to enjoy. They also have a Seattle's Best Coffee near the kids area so that the mommies can get a treat as well. We also discovered that they have a storytime on Wednesdays at 10am, so we can't wait to check that out.
What we liked: It's huge, full of books, and air conditioned! Perfect for hot days like today. Their selection of kids' books was really good. They had a wide variety from board books to cookbooks to activity books. There were books and activties that appeal to a wide age range. However, I didn't see their section on young adult books so I can't speak on what that selection was like. I also liked that they had some other goodies besides books like games and puzzles to look at. The coffee is also a nice touch.
What we would change: There were only two minor details that we had trouble with. First, there were some shelves that were a little sharp and positioned right at two year old head height. Secondly, there was an emergency exit door at the back of the section with a push button strangely positioned at toddler height--way too tempting!
