It truly felt like a neighborhood market. There was live music playing and beautiful farm goods everywhere. We saw lots of other families that we knew while we shopped. There were delicious meats and fresh cheeses, beautiful fresh produce, delicious baked goods, great smelling soaps, and colorful flowers. Our kids enjoyed roaming the market and sampling the goodies. Their favorite part, I think, were the pinwheels decorating the information booth. I think it's so great when we can expose our kids to farmers and the local food and goods they produce. We can't wait to come back next week and sample more delicious local goodies, and we hope all of our S. Durham readers come support the market too!
What we liked: We loved how close it is to us! It's great how it gives us the opportunity to shop locally for fresh ingredients. One of the other great things about this market is that all of the vendors have to come from within 50 miles of the market, so they truly are local. In fact, thomsonranch, one of the local farms selling at the market is within 4 miles of the market-that's local!
What we would change: Of course, we would love it if it were even bigger, but it definitely had plenty of selection for us. Plus, if we continue to support it each week then it will grow each week. We wish it was more often than just Saturday for purely selfish reasons, but it would be very difficult for the farmers to make it out as often as we would like ha!
