Every year my family and I try to participate in the national holiday in memory of the late Dr.  Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy. This year we will be committing Monday, January 20th to community service. Here are other family events going on around in and around Durham :

3. MLK Community Day of Service On the annual MLK Holiday, Monday, January 20, in conjunction with the Triangle United Way, commits thousands of volunteers to go into various communities to provide hand's on service to residents. The goal is to ignite the spirit of community by providing a quality experience for volunteers of all ages and the opportunity to create lasting results across the Triangle region. Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Morrisville.

One more great MLK celebration to share-Don't forget about the annual celebration at Northgate Mall  (in their Center Court) on Monday, January 20 brought to you by MomsRising, Northgate Mall, Lango Kids, Durham Mother's Club, Chapel Hill/Carborro Mother's Club, Kids Voting Durham and MomInChapelHill.  Here's a blog post written last year-http://stircrazymomsofdurham.blogspot.com/2012/01/mlk-celebration-at-northgate-mall.html.  This year, the times are 10:30am-12:30pm.
