A Year of Slow Cooking

I think we're going to have to come up with a websites section on the blog because all of the moms keep finding more and more fabulous mom-friendly websites.  (If you find any out there, please don't hesitate to send them out way!)  There will definitely be more to follow, but we'll stick with this one for tonight.

Since recently having my second child, managing to prepare dinner and get it on the table has become increasingly difficult.  Not only do I have an infant and toddler both demanding my attention, the evening seems to be when both of them are at their fussiest.  So, I've been trying to find ways to make dinner easier.

I came across the website "A Year of Slow Cooking" in my searches for a way to simplify dinnertime.  This has really worked for me.  The author of the website decided to try to use the slow cooker everyday for one year, and she succeeded.  So, this website is the collection of all of those recipes and ones she continues to try.

We have attempted several so far and were very pleased with how they turned out.  I was able to put the ingredients in the slow cooker in the middle of the day or morning when one or both of the boys were napping.  Then, when dinnertime rolled around, all I had to do was dish up the food!

So far, I have only tried fairly typical slow cooker-type food such as lentils and chili, but she also has some really creative things on there like french toast and pizza.  I'll be interested to see how those work out in a slow cooker!  One of the other nice things about the way that she writes each entry is that she describes how her family, children included, liked each dish, so you can get the idea of whether this dish would be good for your family or not.

The website address is: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/  It looks like she also has a cookbook.  So, I might have to try that out as well!

 Happy cooking!

Crockpot365 is an AWESOME blog. It turned me into a crockpot convert, and gave the the confidence to invent my own crockpot creations!

If you don't already know about this great craft website I thought I better tell you about it. Crafty Crow (http://belladia.typepad.com/crafty_crow/) is awesome!

I'm definitely not to the point where I'm inventing my own recipes yet, but I think I'm rapidly becoming a crock pot convert too!

I just looked at Crafty Crow, it does look really cool, and there are so many ideas that look like a lot of fun to try out!

Thanks!
