Brier Creek Community Center Park

My oldest son was at preschool one morning last week, so my almost two year old son and I went on a little adventure with a few friends.  We headed up to Brier Creek which is actually only about 20 minutes from us in South Durham and only a few miles from some other parts of Durham.  It's definitely time we checked it out.

What it is: This time we headed to Brier Creek Community Center Park.  This community center is in the same building as an elementary school. The playground is in the same complex, however, it's across the parking lot from the school and community center.  This playground was great for younger toddlers.  So, I was so glad that I was there with my younger son.  There was a small play structure with some slides and a great model train with several different parts you could play in.  The playground was next to a shelter with some picnic table, a large field with a trail surround it, and a building with restrooms.  There is a bigger playground next to the school, but that is for the students at the school.

What we liked: We loved how this playground was geared for the little guys.  The play structure didn't have any large gaps where my little toddler could lean back and fall off, so I could relax a little while he played.  The train was also a unique touch, and he loved it!  We also loved the proximity of the field and trail so that if you went to the playground with some older kids they could also run around or ride bikes on the trail.

What we would change: This playground might not hold the interest of older kids as well, so make sure to keep that in mind when you head over.
