What it is: Our lunch stop in Pittsboro was so much fun, and I absolutely think it was worth the drive to Pittsboro. S&T's Soda Shoppe is located in downtown Pittsboro just down the street from the courthouse that burned down and is being renovated. We headed in for an early lunch and were transported back in time immediately. It is decorated exactly like an authentic soda shoppe including original soda shoppe woodwork.
We sat down in a booth and then had the difficult decision of what to order. They had over 20 flavors of ice cream and all of those flavors could be made into milkshakes. We chose strawberry and chocolate milkshakes and a rootbeer float. Then we decided on hot dogs and fries for the boys, and I sampled the pimento cheese burger. Everything was delicious, and kid-friendly. They even brought out the milkshakes in little toddler sized glasses for them to enjoy, and one was plenty for them to share (and then some). It was a delicious meal with a fun-friendly atmosphere, and I would make the trip back to Pittsboro just to head there again!
What we liked: We loved the delicious food and shakes-so much selection, and it was all yummy! Plus, the owner was there and incredibly friendly-as was everyone else there.
What we would change: We got there right at 11 when they opened, and by the time we left their small restaurant was fairly crowded. I imagine there could be a wait at some times.
