Grafitti

Can you believe it, we found another frozen yogurt shop in Durham.  It is definitely a trend right now, but self-serve frozen yogurt with all the different toppings you could imagine is not a bad trend to enjoy.

What it is: The new frozen yogurt stop that we tried out this week was Grafitti.  It just opened up  in Hope Valley Commons in South Durham at the intersection of Garrett Rd, Hwy. 54 and Hwy. 751 in South Durham.  We went in on a rainy Friday afternoon wondering what made this place different than the others we have reviewed.  We walked in and it was nice and clean.  They had a room in the front with a few seats where people could get their yogurt, and there was a room in the back with more of a lounge feel.  There was also a juke box and several arcade games.  It seemed like the atmosphere would be fun for younger and older kids alike.  We ordered our selections-as usual chocolate with M&M's for one son and vanilla with gummy worms for the other.  The yogurt was tasty and the kids ate every bit.

What we liked: Now, there was something different about this frozen yogurt place, and it was the reason that we'll definitely be back.  When we walked in, we saw some other patrons drawing on the walls.  We asked about it.  Then, we noticed the dry erase markers and erasers on each table.  That's why it's called graffiti, you can become an artist and draw wherever you want on the walls!  After we ate our frozen yogurt, the fun wasn't over.  We picked up the markers and had fun decorating the walls.  I kept looking back at the cashier and asking if it was really ok, and she assured me that we could just have fun!

What we would change: While my little ones loved drawing on the walls, I couldn't completely sit back and relax because my kids are little enough to also want to draw on the picture frames, tables, booths, etc.  So, I had to make sure that the dry erase markers didn't stray to any other surfaces.  However, it really wasn't that big of a deal and the kids still had a ball.

Thanks for the review. I've been wondering why it's called Graffiti. I have to say I'm a little annoyed at all the Fro-Yo but they are fun to try.
