What it is: Ai Fuji Japanese Steakhouse recently opened in Durham and is a seafood, steakhouse, and sushi bar- and a yummy one too!
What we liked: The food is great and the deals are too! If you go on their website you can read about their monthly specials, daily drink specials as well as lunch and even sushi specials. Unlike some other restaurants, you don't have to dine-in to get the "buy one sushi roll, get another one free" deal. The service is great too.
My first visit was as a last minute surprise for a friend and our group was fairly large. They were able to "hide us" in one of their cozy private rooms with shutting doors. It was perfect. If you are coming with friends and/or children (and they are not too afraid of large flames), sitting at the hibachi grill table is a blast! My boys are 3 and 4, and the chef took the time to explain that they may want to lean back for the flames. Although we had warned the children ahead of time, I appreciated his attention to the children. Also, I should mention that the hibachi chefs are also very entertaining and friendly. Prepare to laugh and enjoy your giant portion of food (mine lasted a couple of days)- what a deal!
What we would change: Nothing! It was excellent, entertaining, and the food was great!
