Other End of the Leash

Now, usually my posts discuss ways to get out and about and explore the world with my two sons. Well, I actually have a third son-a canine one, and this post is about a great new local business in Durham that caters to him.

What it is:  Other End of the Leash is located in the former home of kids' consignment store bien aime on Main Street near Brightleaf.  The other day, I brought my boys buy to pick out presents for our puppy dog.  He also came along on his leash so that he could do some good sniffing.  The store always welcomes friendly dogs on leash.

The store has lots of goodies for your dog or cat-fancy leashes, collars, and harnesses, food, clothes, treats, toys, shampoo, and even homemade treats (made in their bakery in the back).  They have some unique items that are different than you would find in your typical big pet store, and we had a lot of fun looking around.  Eventually, the boys picked out two toys and a bag of treats, and I'm sure our little puppy will be thrilled when he finds them under the tree.

What we liked:  Of course, we always love supporting local businesses in Durham.  They have unique items you wouldn't find elsewhere, and you can take your dog to shop with you.

What we would change: Items in the store were a little more expensive, and I wish they would have had some littler, cheaper items.  However, they were of very good quality.  Plus, the bin with the toys was a bit unbalanced, and I had to watch the kids to make sure to they didn't pull it over on themselves (but the lady in the store said she would be fixing it very soon).
