What it is: Raleighwood is a movie theater located in N. Raleigh. However, it's not just an ordinary movie theater, it's also a restaurant. You can head on over, watch a movie, and have a meal served to you at the same time.
We came for a lunch showing of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. They recommend arriving about a half hour before your show. When you arrive, you purchase tickets for everyone for a fairly inexpensive price of $5. Then, head in and pick your seats. They have tables and seats at a some bar-type seating with really comfy chairs near both. Then, you can peruse the menu. They have sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, appetizers, and more. They also have wine and beer for the grown ups. We ordered lunch for everyone and sat down to the enjoy the movie. The waiters bring your food and make sure you're happy while the movie is playing, and when it's over they've timed it so your bill is paid and you're ready to go. They also do birthday parties and show Monday Night Football with free admission.
What we liked: It was a fun outing. The kids thought it was great fun to be able to eat at a movie theater, and it was a fun family atmosphere. I would imagine that the evening shows would be great for a dinner date with adult company and an adult beverage. It was also nice that the price of the movie was cheaper than a typical movie theater. Plus, if you go on a weekday afternoon before 6pm, it's even cheaper at $3 a ticket.
What we would change: It did end up to be a fairly expensive outing once you paid for the tickets and the food. Plus, the movies were not the current new releases, but older ones which allows for the cheaper price.
