Bull Street Gourmet and Market is located in the Hope Valley Square shopping center which has reinvented itself into one of the best stops for great eats in Durham. The shopping center houses Only Burger, Rick's, Tutti Frutti, Pop's Backdoor South, and of course, Bull Street. This time, we headed in for a bite to eat for lunch. Their menu looked delicious, full of local, fresh ingredients. The adults sampled the Bull Street Chicken Salad and the Pastrami Sandwich and found both yummy. The kids' menu had grilled cheese, BLT, PB&J, and a cheese quesadilla, and this time we split the grilled cheese for our kiddos. We also bought chips and drinks to accompany our meal.
Once we had all the food, we looked for a seat. While they didn't have much seating, it wasn't very crowded. They had one corner booth that was absolutely fabulous for seating for our kiddos. Like I said, it was a corner booth which is always handy for containing kids. We could keep them out of the way of the rest of the diners and they enjoyed it. While the did start messing with the pillows on the booth toward the end of the meal, it still worked out well.
What we liked: We loved the fresh, delicious ingredients. All of the food tasted great, and the kids enjoyed the kid-friendly options. Plus, their location is great near Southwest Library and Tutti Frutti-perfect for a Three-fer.
What we would change: The sandwiches didn't come with anything else so we had to buy chips and a drink to go with all of the meals. This increased the price of the overall meal a little. (Oh, in looking at their website, we just noticed that they do offer a meal deal for the adults at $10.28, which is still a bit pricey, but at least they do offer one for the grown ups.)
