Monuts Donuts

That's right, one of our favorite stops at the Durham Farmers Market finally has a brick and mortar location.

What it is:  Monuts Donuts opened its doors this morning at 7am on Parrish St. in Downtown Durham across the street from Bull City Burger and Brewery.  We love donuts and had to stop by and check it out.  When I headed over, I was able to find street parking just down on Parrish without much trouble.  There was a good sized line, but it was opening day.  Their menu included about 8-10 kinds of donuts (including black strawberry with sprinkles, maple bacon bourbon, chocolate chai, chocolate earl grey, apple cider, amaretto, and more) bagels, and english muffins.  For beverages, you could choose from coffee from Counter Culture Coffee, orange juice, milk, and even beer and wine if you desired.  Donuts were $1.50-$2 per donut.  They also had seating in the form of tall tables that would probably not be too good for kiddos, and some great picnic tables that would be good for the kids.

What we liked:  It is nice to have a place in downtown Durham to sit down and get a sweet treat with the kiddos.  Even if you or your munchkin doesn't like donuts, you also have bagels as an option.  Plus, there are benches facing the windows so you can sit there and the kids can watch the traffic go by on Parrish St.

What we would change: The only tricky thing about this stop is, as with all downtown stops, parking can be a bit tricky.  If you can't find street parking, there are lots and garages that are options downtown.  You might have a bit of a walk, but fortunately close street parking is usually available, especially on weekdays.  Hey, isn't a little walk worth it for monuts??

I think we were there at the same time. I noticed someone taking photos that look a lot like these photos.

Cool! I stopped by on Thurs. morning after I dropped the kids off at preschool. Hope you enjoyed your Monuts. What flavors did you try?
