Now, to create your own, have a Bucket List Party!

So I was recently invited to a "Bucket List Party" by my friends in N. Durham (Thanks Morgan and Ivey). I had not heard of/attended one of these parties before, and could not take my mind off of the movie "The Bucket List" which starred Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman in 2007. Have no worries my friends! this party was not to incite what you would like to accomplished before you die, but in fact was a party to support creative ideas to gather for you and your children before the summer ends. This kinda stuff is right up my alley so I went and had a great time.

We all came with ideas on interesting crafts, places to visit, and kid friendly activities that could be used indoors if the heat cautions you to stay inside.  The host, Morgan, supplied fondue chocolate and marshmallow dipping sauce with strawberries, bananas and shortbread cookies upon our arrival. She had markers, paper and poster board ready for each individual to list out what they will be doing with their families, and most importantly we all came equipped with our cell phones aka portable computers, to look up pinterest, facebook, youtube and other apps that groom creativity.  And let me just say that the entire group was team IPhone, while I am stuck with a Droid. Yes people, the playing field was not leveled, but I made it work anyway.  Here are some of the cool things we gathered:

* There are tons of free concerts and movies going on this summer:
  1. Find Your Cool Summer Concert Series
  2. Northgate Mall Blues on the Plaza
  3. Durham Cinematheque- Movies in the park
  4. Rock the Park Concerts/Movies- Durham Parks and Recreation
  5. Northgate Mall Free kids movies all summer
And a host of other fun activities that shall be posted on Stir crazy moms (got keep you guessing).

Other fun summer ideas included:
  • Setting up a lemonade stand with the kids
  • flying a kite
  • making a slip n slide
  • having a tea party
  • making homemade ice cream
  • letting the kids run in the sprinklers.
All in all, this was a great party and got me really thinking about my summer with the kids. What are some fun activities, crafts, or events do you look forward to this summer?
